Lyric Theater,
Adventure of the Seas
Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines
The 1,288 seat Lyric Theater, on board
the ship Adventure of the Seas, is the third theater designed for Royal
Caribbean’s Voyager Class by Wilson Butler Architects. One of the design’s
primary sources of inspiration is from the Art Nouveau movement -- a simple
single object, a peacock feather. Art Nouveau was inspired by organic
shapes and in its architecture, as in the natural world, nothing is truly
linear.
The overall design includes a color palette
of jewel tones ranging from cool blues and greens through metallic bronzes,
and imitates the interaction of light on translucent fabrics. In typical
Art Nouveau fashion, the space is full of delicate metalwork, rich materials
and swirling lines of detail.
