College of
Fine Arts, Boston University
Boston, Massachusetts
Working
with Boston University’s College of Fine Arts (CFA), we provided services
for an existing conditions survey and the development of a facilities
plan to renovate and expand the CFA. The College’s existing campus covers
480,000 s.f. and includes the School of Music, the School of Theatre Arts
and the School of Visual Arts.
The
goal is to create a new state-of-the-art facilities that complement the
high quality and international reputation of Boston University’s College
of Fine Arts. In particular, the plan focuses on creating a wide variety
of new music practice and performance rooms, integrating the theatre arts
program’s drama and theatre technology facilities, creating new and improved
fine arts gallery and studio space and optimizing both the building space
and the land available. We are continuing to provide services to support
the College’s fundraising phase.
The
study analyzed the existing arts facilities at a number of properties
including 808 and 855 Commonwealth Avenue, the BU Theatre, other theatre
spaces on Boston’s Huntington Avenue, as well as the Tsai Performance
Center and sections of the Mugar Library.
