The Colonial Theatre
Pittsfield, Massachusetts

Wilson Butler Architects provided the local community group, the Colonial Theatre Association, with a feasibility study of the historic restoration of the 810-seat Colonial Theatre. The theatre, originally built for vaudeville in 1903, has spent the last 50 years as a store.

In 1998, First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton visited the theatre as part of her “Saving America’s Treasures Tour.”

The study includes plans to upgrade the structure, the mechanical systems and the stagehouse, as well as a careful restoration of the existing interiors and a scheme to bring the theatre into compliance with both ADA and the local building codes.
