Golf School,
Cranwell Resort & Golf Course
Lenox, Massachusetts
The
88-acre Cranwell Resort contains two of Lenox's historic "Berkshire
Cottages," the Beecher (1893) and the Wyndhurst (1911), as well as
a broad collection of campus structures built between 1933 and 1974. As
part of a comprehensive planning effort to expand the resort's lodging
capacity and guest amenities, a number of these structures were evaluated
for renovation and integration into the resort's overall character and
land use plan.
The
second of two phases of renovation involved the 3,000 s.f. farm house,
which was modified to match the lines of the existing cottages. The addition
of 6,000 s.f. was for locker and dining facilities, as well as retail
and classroom space. An 11,000 s.f. "hitting barn" was added
to make Cranwell a state-of-the-art teaching facility.
Scott
Wilson was the Principal-in-Charge and Scott Butler the Project Architect,
while with Rothman Partners, Inc.
