Weekend Warrior Sports Bar, Explorer of the Seas
Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines

The sports bar is located at the center of the Explorer of the Seas' four-story atrium arcade, called the "Royal Promenade", with a facade designed to generate curb appeal.

For this project Wilson Butler Architects proposed that the "Weekend Warrior" bar intentionally depart from the professional sports look of a classic sports bar. As a result, the main bar is divided into two distinct halves to encourage a cross bar rivalry. An adjacent Video Arcade leads back to the Pool Room, which in turn connects to the back of the bar.

The character of the room contrasts the Weekender (more modest recreational activities) and the Warrior (life-endangering heroics). There is a Tailgate Party drink-rail, a Folk hero wall, and a Tool shed that becomes the Pool shed.

Special consultants for the project include lighting designers Fisher Marantz Stone, Inc. and video designers Boyce Nemec Design.
