Warner Theatre
Torrington, Connecticut

The elaborately decorated Warner Theatre was originally designed by the renowned theater architect Thomas W. Lamb in 1931. While much of the original interior and exterior detailing remain intact, it is in need of restoration. In a report to the Northwest Connecticut Association for the Arts, we evaluated the theatre and made the recommendation to restore the original 1931 design completely, including the exterior street facade, the marquee, the Grand Foyer, the promenade lobbies and the 1704-seat auditorium. Our study also advocated the addition of a new stage and rehearsal accommodations to meet the needs of touring companies.

The renovation of the historic Warner Theatre was fueled by the support of the local arts community. The Warner has proven its regional appeal and economic impact, operating year-round with more than 30,000 patrons annually. In addition, its dynamic arts-in-education program has reached thousands of young people throughout the region.
