Background
Tony
Ricci joined the firm after 15 years with BTA Architects Inc. (fka Benjamin
Thompson Associates, Inc.) While at BTA Tony was onsite construction administrator
for three simultaneous New York University Law school building projects:
an under street extension to the law school library, a three hundred bed
dormitory with student and faculty dining/conference facilities and co-located
facilities for all the Law School’s student publications. Tony worked
with Scott Wilson and Scott Butler during the construction of the Broward
Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Tony administered
a team of designers and consultants creating a Master Plan and initial
implementation strategies for the Grand Central Business Improvement District,
Manhattan’s first and largest; projects included floodlighting Grand Central
Terminal, signature ADA accessible sidewalk corners, new street lamps
and furnishings, as well as recommendations for the simplification of
on street signage and preliminary designs for the recently opened Viaduct
cafe. Tony’s most recent project for BTA is the American Multi Cinema
(AMC) Empire 25 cinema complex on 42nd Street NYC. Entering through a
relocated and restored Broadway theatre; patrons are wisked up a series
of escalators through four ‘sky lobbies’ (with views of Times Square,
the New 42nd Street and the New Jersey Palisades) to 4937 seats, in state
of the art stadium risered theatres (ranging in size from 597 to 56 seats).
During his BTA years, Tony also assisted on major, international retail/commercial
projects in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Budapest, Hungary.
Tony’s previous professional experiences include: Mid East urban design,
U.S. municpal planning and Community development projects, teaching and
a stint as an Architect in the U.S. Peace Corps.
