Background
The
focus of Scott's twenty-eight year career has been the planning and design
of performing arts facilities. The numerous theaters and concert halls
he has designed embody his philosophy that the built environment "should
offer endless romance, enrichment and joy." Mr. Wilson's work has been
hailed for its variety, its sensitivity to an individual's touch and scale,
and its authentic contextual use of materials. Clients and users alike
have come to respect and trust Mr. Wilson's ability to lead and guide
the architectural planning and design process. Through a unique combination
of visual tools and decision inspiring motivation, difficult choices are
studied, evaluated and brought to successful conclusions. As a champion
of "hands-on collaboration" he has been credited as the driving force
behind numerous successfully completed projects. Buildings completed under
Scott's direction have been published in Newsweek, Time, Architecture,
Architectural Record, Interiors, and Theatre Crafts magazine
as well as in regional newspapers including The New York Times, The
Miami Herald and The Boston Globe. Wilson was featured extensively
in the nationally distributed PBS documentary, Ovation, the Building of
the Broward Center, produced by PBS affiliate WPBT-TV Miami. Prior to
forming Wilson Butler Architects (formerly known as Wilson Butler Lodge
Inc.) in 1997, Mr. Wilson worked with A.I.A. Gold Medalist Benjamin Thompson
for 12 years, serving as a Senior Associate from 1983-1991 and as a Director
from 1992 - 1993, and served as a Principal with Rothman Partners, Inc.
from 1993-1996.
