April 2001:
Project Awarded:

Towson University Center for the Arts

WBLI, in a joint venture with the Baltimore firm Design Collective Inc.(DCI), have been designated the architects for the renovation and expansion of the Towson University Center for the Arts following a national competition. The project will substantially increase the Theater, Fine Arts, and Music Departments and add Dance to the facility.

A new recital hall and music recording studio will augment the Music facilities. Much emphasis will be placed on improving the student circulation and public lobby spaces throughout the building that unite all disciplines sharing the building and are utilized by the public attending performances and the galleries. The major design challenge will be the site itself. The building sits upon a steep hill with limited space to expand; however, this same site creates a magnificent focal point for the New Center for the Arts and the campus . WBLI and DCI are excited by this design opportunity and look forward to the joint venture's development of the program and realization of the Center's image with the faculty and students of Towson University.
