Groundbreaking:
Midway Studios, Fort Point, Boston, MA

Boston's Mayor Thomas M. Menino announced the September groundbreaking at the site of three century-old warehouse buildings on Midway Street in Fort Point Channel neighborhood, that will be redeveloped to create the Midway Studios arts complex, an new mixed-use cultural arts center and residential development on Boston's waterfront. The development includes 89 live/work studios, a 200-seat black box theater, a smaller theater/rehearsal space, a café and office/retail space for non-profit arts organizations and arts-related businesses. Working with the Fort Point Development Collaborative, a joint venture of the Fort Point Cultural Coalition and Keen Development Corporation, Midway Studios is part and parcel of Channel Center, a four-block residential, office, and retail complex that is being developed in three phases by Beacon Capital Partners. Wilson Butler Lodge Inc. provided the feasibility study for the overall renovation and is the Design Architect for the project's arts and public spaces.
