November 2003:
Project Opening:
Mariner of the Seas Launch, RCI

Scott Wilson, Scott Butler and Barbara Sherman sailed the high seas off the Florida coast while celebrating the inaugural cruise of the newest Voyager Class ship, Mariner of the Seas in November 2003. Wilson Butler Lodge Inc. designed two of the most visited spaces on the new ship. Studio B is a multi-purpose, 900-seat arena/entertainment venue featuring the first ice rink at sea. With a retractable deck cover, telescopic seating and a raised stage, the space can also be reconfigured as a theater or television studio. The second entertainment venue is The Savoy Theatre, a 1,350 seat Broadway-style theater decorated in the Art Deco style. Says Jack Williams, president and COO for Royal Caribbean International, "Mariner offers all the innovations that make the Voyager class so popular…but she also has some surprises in store and a spirit all her own."
