Wilson Butler Architects is an award winning 30-person design and interiors studio based in Boston, with a national practice focused on architecture for the arts and entertainment (www.wilsonbutler.com). We are looking for a full-time Architectural Intern to join our expanding team.

This position collaborates with senior staff on project design and development and also assists in the coordination of work from outside consultants with the architectural drawings and specifications. The ideal applicant is an active pre-registration candidate with 2 to 5 years experience and a broad set of technical and design skills including but not limited to; AutoCAD 2000i Desktop or above, 3-D modeling, freehand design sketching, Illustrator, and Photoshop. They must also be capable of understanding complex three-dimensional spaces and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.

Project Architect

Wilson Butler Architects is an award winning 30-person design and interiors studio based in Boston, with a national practice focused on architecture for the arts and entertainment (www.wilsonbutler.com). We are looking for a Project Architect to join our expanding team.

This team member researches and administers building projects for clients, applying knowledge of design, construction procedures, zoning and building codes, and building materials. Consults with client to determine functional and spatial requirements of new structure or renovation, and prepares information regarding design, specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, and construction time. Works in conjunction with our Interiors Department as projects warrant, and coordinates the efforts of the consulting engineers; integrating their information into a unified design. Assists in the administration of construction contracts and conducts periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans. The project architect directs activities of workers engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents so delegation, oversight, and team leadership is a must. They will also mentor less experienced staff which includes assisting in training, making recommendations, answering questions and taking a pro-active leadership role to ensure an effective team.

The ideal candidate is a registered architect with 5-10 years experience. Project design, management experience, AutoCAD 2000i with Desktop or above, the ability to convey information efficiently through freehand sketching, strong written and verbal skills, technical detailing, documentation quality control, and some on-site construction experience required. Illustrator and Photoshop a plus.

Junior Interior Designer

Wilson Butler Architects is an award winning 30-person design and interiors studio based in Boston, with a national practice focused on architecture for the arts and entertainment (www.wilsonbutler.com). We are looking for a Junior Interior Designer to join our expanding team.

The Junior Interior Designer works closely with our Design Team in implementing the planning and design of interior environments. Duties include but not limited to: ordering samples, contacting manufacturers’ representatives, conducting product research, computer support including redlining drawings, furniture layouts, floor and wall patterns, entering and developing schedules, assisting with presentation boards and specifications documentation for projects, and researching images for design conceptualization.

The ideal candidate will be self motivated and have the organizational skills to prioritize and balance the multiple demands within the office in order to ensure that all teams function properly and accurately. They must also possess an ability to work with clients, consultants, and manufacturers.

A professional degree in Interior Design or Architecture is required. We are looking for a recent graduate with professional internship experience or 1-4 years post school professional work experience. AutoCAD 2000i with Desktop or above required. Familiarity with color theory, fabrics, furniture design, hand sketching, Sketch-up 3-D modeling, Illustrator, Photoshop and PowerPoint a plus.

Model Shop Intern

Wilson Butler Architects is an award winning 30-person design and interiors studio based in Boston, with a national practice focused on architecture for the arts and entertainment (www.wilsonbutler.com). We are looking for a Model Shop Intern to join our expanding team.

We are seeking an architect/designer with inspired model building skills to work with our theatre design team. Our design process is grounded in hands-on model building from a project's programming phase through full scale mock-ups during construction. (Please see http://www.wilsonbutler.com/sect4/modelshop.htm for more details.) This position requires a designer passionate about model building as a design tool.

A professional degree in Architecture desired but not required. A qualified candidate must have experience making models over a continuous period of 1-4 years. They must be well acquainted to working within a fast paced, quick changing design environment. Attention to detail and finish is very important. Skills should include, but not be limited to, working in foam, foam board, card, basswood and plastic. Spray painting and model lighting a plus. AutoCAD 2000i with Desktop or above, Illustrator, and Photoshop required. Photography, artistic/graphic design, 3D computer modeling skills such as SketchUp a plus.

Marketing Manager

Wilson Butler Architects is an award winning 30-person design and interiors studio based in Boston, with a national practice focused on architecture for the arts and entertainment (www.wilsonbutler.com). We are looking for a Marketing Manager to join our expanding team.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years prior marketing experience preferably in A/E fields. They will be able to work independently with guidance from the Directors on a full range of tasks including but not limited to; strategic planning for firm growth, business development, outreach for arts, education and hospitality markets, lead development and tracking, shaping and managing public relations efforts, proposal writing, maintain/develop collateral materials (including brochures, mailers, and web-site) and conference and interview presentation development. Collaboration with a Marketing Assistant. 

Qualifications; Strong written and verbal communication skills, Bachelor’s degree, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required. InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop a plus. In addition, time management skills; the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines and work with diverse personalities in and out of the office will be essential.
